Debra JOHNSON

Debra A. Johnson leads the multi-modal transit agency serving the Denver metro region, a position she assumed in 2020.

Johnson has more than 30 years of experience in the transit industry. Having worked at seven transit agencies across the United States, she previously served as Deputy CEO of California’s Long Beach Transit from May 2014 to October 2020. She has held executive positions at LA Metro, San Francisco’s MTA, and WMATA in Washington, D.C.

In addition to serving as a National Ambassador on the UITP Policy Board, she is actively involved in leadership roles with APTA, WTS International, and the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials.

She holds a master’s degree in public administration from California State University, Hayward (now CSU East Bay), a bachelor’s degree in international relations from the University of California, Davis, and is an alumna of the Eno Center for Transit’s Leadership Executive Development program.
