What is a Study Tour?

Study tours are a unique learning experience designed to compliment the discussions and expertise at the UITP Summit.

Get an in-depth look at diverse bus and rail networks across Germany, showcasing advanced technologies and operational strategies.

What to Expect:

  • Daily presentations by public transport operators giving you insights into network management and operations.
  • Site visits to depots, maintenance centres and in some cases operational control centres, stations and key development projects.

  • Friday 13 June – Frankfurt am Main
    – Visit of the KIRA autonomous vehicle project with Level 4 operation in Darmstadt and Offenbach
  • Saturday 14 June – Hannover
    – Visit of Germany’s largest on-demand public transport system with “Sprinti” buses, which enable flexible and needs-based mobility in rural areas
    – Visit to an E-bus depot
  • Sunday 15 June – Hamburg
    – Visit to an E-bus depot

Places are limited on Study Tours. Due to expected high demand, we recommend registering as soon as possible. You must be registered first the for the UITP Summit in order to take part.

  2. Then register for the Study Tour(s) of your choice, additional fee applies.


Rail Tour

A more detailed programme will be available on the UITP Website shortly.

  • Thursday 19 June in Hamburg
    – Visit of construction site for new U5 automated metro line, and discovery of automation and digitalisation of metro project.
  • Friday 20 June in Berlin
    – Visit of maintenance and operation systems of tramways in Berlin.
  • Saturday 21 June in Frankfurt am Main
    – Visit of various ongoing and planned construction measures at Frankfurt Central Station for the new long-distance railway tunnel.

Limited availability (20 persons per Tour)

You must first register for the UITP Summit with an Exchange or Expertise pass in order to be eligible to join the study tour(s).

Pricing

Study tours are not included in your UITP Summit pass. An additional fee applies and you must register separately.

1 Study Tour€300 excl. VAT per person
2 Study Tours€550 excl. VAT per person

You will also be responsible for covering the costs of the following items. These are not included in your registration for the Summit or a Study Tour.

  • Transportation costs between cities
  • Accomodation & meals
  • Any costs related to visa procedures
