Nicolás holds a BS in civil engineering from Universidad de los Andes in Colombia and a masters in urban planning from UNC at Chapel Hill. During his career he has worked enhancing the transport and infrastructure agenda, fostering poverty reduction and fighting climate change through sustainable infrastructure.

 

He has served in the public sector in Colombia at the National Planning Department, as transport Vice-Minister, and more recently as Secretary of Mobility of Bogotá. He worked for the World Bank as Junior Professional in Washington DC. Currently, he works as Director of Infrastructure Projects at CAF- development bank of Latin America, being responsible for a portfolio of 190+ operations in transport, energy and digital, for USD 10.6 billion. He has published several papers on urban transport affordability and urban form affecting travel patterns. He serves on 2 Committees at the Transport Research Board. In February 2022 Bogotá was awarded with the Sustainable Transport Award, and in 2021 he was selected as one of the 21 heroes of sustainable transport by the global initiative TUMI.
