Battery powered trains: Operating and maintaining the future

The visit will showcase a solution for trains for tracks without overhead contact lines. The 55 two-car FLIRT Akku battery operatingsince 2023 make up the world’s first battery-electric train fleet in regular scheduled service.

Stadler maintains the trains for the Schleswig-Holstein Transport Association (NAH.SH) at its ultra-modern and purpose-built facility in Rendsburg, Schleswig-Holstein. Participants can expect a ride on the innovative FLIRT Akku battery train from Hamburg to Rendsburg. At the Rendsburg facility we will show how the maintenance of the battery trains is performed. The tour will also include the signalling technology at the facility.
