With 4 lines, 147 kilometers of rail network and a total of 70 stations, S-Bahn Hamburg plays its part in ensuring that passengers reach their destinations quickly and conveniently. More than 1,500 employees are on duty every day. They ensure that everything runs smoothly when up to 750,000 passengers use the S-Bahn on weekdays. The Hamburg S-Bahn connects hubs such as the main railway station or Hamburg Airport with local public transport and links the entire metropolitan region to the hvv network. Punctuality, safety and cleanliness are just as important as sustainability. This is why the S-Bahn Hamburg has been running exclusively on CO2-free electricity since January 2010.

Product description

The “Digital S-Bahn Hamburg 2.0” project, launched by the City of Hamburg, Deutsche Bahn, and Siemens Mobility, focuses on developing intelligent operations control technology to optimize automated S-Bahn train traffic in real time. The system monitors and adjusts operations live, resolving conflicts quickly, minimizing unnecessary stops, and using braking energy to power other trains. This leads to more punctual, reliable, and energy-efficient service—supporting Hamburg’s goals for increased capacity and energy efficiency.
