HafenCity University Hamburg (HCU) was founded in 2006 as a university for architecture and spatial development. As a technical university, it deals with the central future topics of building and the city in research and teaching. It researches how people live and work in urban areas, especially in metropolitan regions, with a particular focus on the cross-cutting issues of digitalization, social justice and climate change. Its 45 professors and around 2,500 students come together at the Hen-ning-Voscherau-Platz site in HafenCity, which gives the university its name. As the largest inner-city urban development project in Europe, HafenCity offers the special appeal of an urban laboratory on your doorstep.
