UITP Global Public Transport Summit – Melbourne 2021

UITP, the International Association of Public Transport and the Victorian Department of Transport (DoT), make the joint decision to cancel the 2021 edition due to ongoing travel restrictions from the coronavirus pandemic.
Brussels/Melbourne, 11 March 2021
Last year, with the comfort and safety of all involved as our number one priority,
UITP and the Victorian Department of Transport made the joint decision to move the date of the next UITP Global Public Transport Summit in Melbourne to December of this year.
Now, with the coronavirus pandemic ongoing, and restrictions continuing for international travel, we have decided to cancel the 2021 Summit in Melbourne.
We believe that we could not host the type of first-class industry gathering that the UITP Global Summit has come to be known as.
The Summit is a biennial event and the next edition is already in place for Barcelona, Spain
in June 2023, with the usual two-year timeline continuing beyond that.
UITP has developed a strong relationship with the Victorian Department of Transport and
we have agreed on this joint outcome as the best option for all involved.
We know that our connection with the city and DoT will remain strong moving forward,
and maintain the possibility of organising the Summit in Melbourne in the future. We also
thank the Melbourne Convention Bureau for its ongoing support.

With a proud history spanning 135 years, the UITP Global Public Transport Summit has
brought the sector together to discuss and debate the future of urban mobility and its success is of great pride to all of us.
With each passing edition, our Summit has become the defining event in public transport.
The experience offered to delegates, exhibitors, sponsors and visitors is what has made its reputation second to the none within the sector.
The sense of community within public transport is stronger than ever before and we thank all stakeholders for their ongoing engagement and support, especially in light of these necessary changes to our events calendar.
