With over a week of transformation and innovation, the UITP Summit 2025<\/a> has concluded with the world of urban mobility coming together from more than 100 countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Hamburg became the public transport capital of the world for the 2025 edition, a festival of urban mobility took place for all attending delegates and participants (15-18 June 2025<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first of two editions in Hamburg (the Summit will return to the Hanseatic city in 2027), UITP and our local hosts, Hamburger Hochbahn and MOIA, hosted the 65th edition under six key Summit Programme tracks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a world-renowned Exhibition, sector-leading Congress, technical visits, study tours, networking and social events, the UITP Summit was the<\/em> gathering place for showcasing the latest innovations, the newest technologies, and forward-thinking projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So, with all of that and more, what are the 2025 standouts facts and figures<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 2025 Agenda Of Major Moments<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Summit began sustainably, with almost 50 of our UITP HQ colleagues arriving by bus<\/a> \u2013 thanks to our member Keolis Belgium!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Sunday onwards, the 2025 edition opened with a powerful message: public transport is about empowering people and building resilient futures, and the major milestone moments kept on arriving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UITP President Ren\u00e9e\u202fAmilcar was re-elected with unanimous support from the present membership<\/a> \u2013 with a 100% renewal mandate \u2013  alongside the announcement of RATP\u2019s Gautier Brodeo as the newly-elected Deputy President. Congratulations!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many high-profile panel sessions, signings, ceremonies and gatherings took place, with  a special panel moderated by Sec Gen Mohamed Mezghani with the UITP President, Hamburg Senator Dr Anjes Tjarks, Robert Henrich, CEO of Hamburger Hochbahn, Anna-Theresa Korbutt, Managing Director, Hamburg Transport Association (HVV), and Sascha Meyer, CEO, MOIA GmbH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The group emphasised the importance of integrated services and harmonising systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our keynote speaker also brought great attention to the global role of public transport as a force for societal good, with social entrepreneur, author and changemaker Benita Matofska challenging our Summit delegates to drive positive change through seven steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seeing the potential for international collaboration, UITP was pleased to join forces with VDV, who hosted their Annual Conference<\/a> in conjunction with the UITP Summit, offering delegates the unique opportunity to participate in both events, growing their network and community in the process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Summit is an opportunity to talk about the benefits of public transport for our cities \u2013  a message echoed by UITP President Ren\u00e9e\u202fAmilcar during our Closing with the unveiling of World Public Transport Day<\/a> (17 April 2026<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By launching next year, on the first year of the UN Decade for Sustainable Transport, we\u2019re inviting members to create opportunities for local celebrations in their cities, regions, or countries \u2013 every year!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Next Steps For World PT Day & Dubai 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Summit is the<\/em> location for new players to present themselves, for long-term players to reinvent themselves, and for the world of public transport to define the future of the sector. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Public transport\u2019s international leadership in innovation, sustainability and economic growth will help drive our cities forward \u2013 and we carry that positive momentum all the way to Dubai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our road to Hamburg may have concluded for 2025, but with World Public Transport Day<\/a> set in our diaries \u2013 17 April 2026 \u2013<\/em> we\u2019re issuing a rallying call for cities worldwide to champion sustainable, inclusive mobility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The UITP Summit 2026 in Dubai<\/a> promises to drive sustainability forward, in a location internationally known for its innovative and technological eye on the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
