From insight to impact: harnessing data, technology and planning to enhance the appeal of public transport services

  • Plenary

The session brings several thoughts leaders of the sector to exchange how a better knowledge of the demand with better data and the use of technology steer the provision of attractive public transport services in various regional environments.

This include the opportunity to chose the right mode, including shared and on demand services, for the right context, with autonomous mobility around the corner.

Efficient planning with a sound governance remains critical to leverage data and technology and to engage stakeholders in the evolution of services for the benefits of all, supporting the avoid shift improve approach.

Here are some of the key questions which will be adressed during this panel discussion:

  • How can we better use data to improve the attractiveness our services, to better target mobility demand and  steer it towards public transport ?
  • How can we better leverage technology, including autonomous mobility
  • How to offer more attractive services ?
  • How to ensure complementarity between mass PT and on demand services ? How do we see this evolving in the near future ?
  • How city landscape and land use impact transport demand and what role can public transport play in this respect ?
