María Fernanda Ortiz Carrascal is the general manager of Transmilenio S.A., the managing entity
of the integrated public transportation system in Bogotá, Colombia. She has led Bogota's rise as
a leader in clean transportation, among other things thanks to her work on TransMilenio's
deployment of the largest fleet of electric buses in Latin America. In addition to this project, Maria
participated in the design and implementation of Bogotá's first subway line. Maria originally
trained as a civil engineer at the Universidad de Los Andes in Bogota and then obtained two
master's degrees, first in Transport Engineering in Colombia and then in Smart Cities and Urban
Analytics in the UK. Maria has worked extensively in the public and private sectors, including for
Steer, VGMobility, the Secretariat of Mobility and Transmilenio from 2018 to 2021, as well as a
consultant in transport planning, e-mobility and urban analytics
